Preview of Illiana

Her famous Dallas attorney, Samuel De Marco; dubbed Sampson for his strength in the court room was her white knight, not only great representation, he had made her one wealthy woman. They hit it off immediately in his Dallas office. That was the first time she’d laid eyes on him. He was referred to her by a contact at the country club. Illiana called him and made an appointment to represent her estate and to file her divorce. From the first day they were on the telephone a dozen times.

Today they stood on the courthouse steps after receiving her final decree. His white hair blew slightly; he smoothed it with his large tan hand, “Illiana I’m glad you heeded my advice and changed your name. He reached over and laid his hand on her shoulder wanting to make more of an impact with his statement. “Leave this hell behind and be glad you can. He took his hand and cupped her chin to lift her eyes to meet his own, “Beautiful lady you can have the world on a string.” He got silent then a big smile appeared exposing perfect white teeth and crinkling his eyes at the corner; his baby blue eyes seemed to twinkle.

She thought to herself, he is one handsome man. No doubt by the way the women hung onto every word he spoke in the courtroom and every head turned when he entered the room, his distinguished presence just demanded it. Illiana took his hand and covered it with her own and said, “Dear Sampson, what would I have ever done had I not had you at my side during all of the trial.” Nodding as he spoke, he said, “I will only be a phone call away if you ever need me.” They walked down the last step of the old courthouse steps, hugged, then went in separate directions. She felt a part of her family was once again telling her goodbye.

Illy vowed she would never mention her husband’s hideous double murder to her parent’s. Rather she would say, “We fell out of love and grew apart.”

She’d promised the Realtor that she would leave the keys in the kitchen. The house had sold ~where she and Peter resided. He certainly had no use for it. He would be spending the rest of his days in the maximum security of the Huntsville Penitentiary. This would be her final task. She felt she was driving the last nail on the coffin of their fifteen year marriage.

Blinded with tears she glanced around her home for the last time and left.

Outside the breeze fluttered; she could hear the birds singing, something she use to enjoy, but today she felt void.

Illiana Westbrook watched the city limit sign reduce to a speck in her rear view mirror. She floor boarded her Pearl white BMW headed eastbound out of Chapel Valley; she’d make St. Louis by nightfall. With her brows drawn tightly and her lips pursed; she assessed her life and determined it paralleled the speck. On a scale from 1-10; her life of privilege had rated a 10 plus; squashed to a zero in a matter of days.

Months had passed and she’d begun to miss her passionate intimacy with Peter. Of all the problems they had, sex had not been one of them. Once settled she would reclaim her life, to date and be social, she needed it in more ways than one. Illiana was a real woman, all woman and she had no intention of becoming an embittered old lady spending the rest of her days in a rocking chair feeling sorry for herself.
Illiana had lots of time to think and she had big plans on the drawing board. She’d purchased an old mansion about five miles north of her folks. Almost completed, it would soon be ready for occupancy.

In addition, her new business venture, Westbrook Interiors, was about to be explode on the business scene in the St. Louis area. All of the exciting plans had her adrenalin pumping for the first time in years.

Still a looker at thirty-five; Illiana was often compared to the legendary screen actress; Audrey Hepburn; hailed the most beautiful woman in history; the goddess of the golden era of Hollywood; Illy possessed the same qualities. Men absolutely drooled to see her walk. She had the grace of a swan; a body of a ballerina; both lithe and agile. She exuded sensuality; long legs that pranced precisely; effortlessly. She was a natural and easy on the eyes. No Hollywood star could beat her; she was stunning.

Preview of Dangerously Compulsive

Camilla sat at her dressing table starring into the black eyes of a stranger. The once glamorous socialite, the televised regal face was a regular in the society section of the newspaper on a regular basis. Their restaurant was famous. The Finitti’s are known for their generosity to charity and fundraisers. She had made many doctors millionaires enhancing and preserving her youthful beauty. The mirror mocked her now, accentuating the sagging skin and bloated tissue. Her deep set eyes haunted her now~ knowing the secret of the stolen hours spent exchanging her body for the almighty dollar.
How important could it be to get her fix at the racetrack? How had this happened to her? Where had the road run off the cliff? Camilla buried her face in her hands and wept. They had had the perfect life and loaded. However, money, the root of all evil, enough is never enough.

She drew out a tissue and blew. She would fall to sleep from exhaustion only to awaken realizing that it was not a nightmare, it was her life in living color. She remembered finding Rocky lying in a pile of dark red blood. Never knowing how she managed to call 911, all she could remember was screaming.

Her husband had adored her since he was a young man. He placed her high on a pedestal. He dreamed big and they lived his dream. From the humble times as teenage exchange students, sent to Texas due to excellent grades. Once wed their journey was a rocket ride to unbelievable wealth and power. They had been so in love, she gave him two angelic children, a boy for him and a girl for her. Her eyes ached from the salty tears. How could she cry more, how could she have any tears left?

Camilla leaned forward and drew the crumpled newspaper from her wastebasket. She wiped the tears with the back of her hands. Mascara smeared her swollen eyes. She did not care- nothing mattered—nothing, now that Rocky was gone forever.

The headlines boldly read, Restaurant Owner, Rocco ( Rocky) Finitti Found Murdered. A photo of a dashingly handsome Rocky receiving an Award of Excellence while hosting a special event and surrounded by local business associates was plastered on the front page of the Houston Chronicle.

Don't miss Kay's children's book series coming out soon called: "The Shade Tree Gang Meets". A delightful series for young children about meeting and making friends and helping each other.
